Teenager Taken Into Custody In Connection With The Fatal Shooting Death Of A Female Bay View High School Student

Suspect was arrested near where Bay View High School student was killed on Wednesday

Milwaukee - On Thursday, Markus Evans, 17, wanted in connection with the shooting death of Jonoshia M. Alexander, 17, has been taken into custody, according to Annie E. Schwartz, spokesperson for the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD). Schwartz indicated Evans is a person of interest and was being sought by police for questioning about Alexander's death.
Evan's was considered armed and dangerous by MPD. He has an extensive juvenile record and numerous contacts with police.
Alexander left a choir practice at Bay View High School and went home by bus. Alexander had just left a bus stop where she got off and was heading home at the 1400 block of W. Keefe when she was shot about 6:55 p.m. She died at he scene, according to police.
Schwartz says, she was not the intended target.
Police reported that Alexander became the 94 homicide victim in 2010, compared to 72 homicides in 2009.
