57-year-old Illinois Man Charged With Preditory Sexual Assault Of A Child

Lake County, Illinois - On Wednesday, Jaime Salgado, 57, of Wadsworth was charged with one felony count of preditory criminal sexual assault in connection with assaulting a 12-year-old girl. The criminal complaint states, Salgado began assaulting the child when she was 9-years-old and continued once a week and then Salgado graduately assaulted her five times a week in the last three years. He initiated sexual contact after the girl began to play with him. Salgado had been an acquaintance of the family for years, according to the complaint.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marc Bangser said, the victim's sister walked into the room Tuesday and found Salgado sexually assaulting the child. Salgado later admitted to the child's mother that he had been taking advantage of the child sexually for years.
Lake County Circuit Court Judge Raymond Collins set Salgado's bail at $500,000, but he can post at least $50,000 cash to be released. Salgado is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 16, according to court records.
