Chicago Man Wanted For Murder Arrested In Racine By U.S. Marshals

Racine, Wisconsin - On Friday, the U.S. Marshal Service arrested Michael Smith, 31, in the City of Racine after he was spotted staying at a residence. Smith was wanted in Chicago, Illinois for last month's homicide of an Aldi's grocery store 54-year-old security guard and the shooting of a 67-year-old woman.
Smith and an accomplice were caught on camera surveillance video walking into the store and telling customers they were there to robb the place. The 54-year-old guard tried to intervene and was fatally shot. The woman customer tried to leave the store and was shot in the leg.
Smith fled Illinois and ended up in Racine. His accomplice was caught by Chicago Police shortly after the robbery and then committed suicide in jail.
Smith is facing a 1st-degree intentional homicide charge, arm robbery and drug charges, according to Chicago Police.
