Officers suspected of conducting illegal strip cavity searches were temporarily transferred to other districts and stripped of police powers pending the outcome of the internal investigation.

Milwaukee - On Wednesday, TMJ 4 News reported that an internal investigation was launched to look into allegations that suspects detained and processed at Milwaukee Police District 5 Station were illegally strip searched by officers. Citizens detained and who underwent search procedures filed complaints against the officers. The investigation is targeting 7 officers and a sergeant assigned to the special gang unit at the district station.
The officers are suspected of violating the civil rights of those detained by unlawfully strip searching them. A sergeant approved the cavity searches, but department policy only authorizes higher rank and file supervisors to approve such searches instead of a sergeant.
No information has been released by the department, if officers actually conducted anal or sexual parts exposure, including probing and other methods of cavity search procedures to look for contraband that violated department policy.
