Mexican flag ceremony to take place inside the Rhode Island State House.

Providence, Rhode Island - On Saturday, both the Asociación Social, Cultural y Deportiva Mexicana de R.I. and the César E. Chávez Committee of R.I. announced that a Mexican flag raising ceremony is set for Sept. 14, inside the State Room at the Rhode Island State House in anticipation with the September 16, Mexican Independence Day. The flag raising event will begin at 4:00 p.m., rain or shine and is opened to the public.
A brief history, every year El Grito is reenacted after September 15 at midnight on September 16. On September 16, 1810, the first "Grito de Dolores" or Father Miguel Hidalgo's call was made for peasants to take up arms against the Spanish colonial government rule.
The start of the Mexican Revolution is celebrated on November 20, 1910, when Francisco "Pancho" Villa and Pascual Orozco led the first insurrectionist attack against the ruling Mexican Porfirio Díaz dictatorship government, loyalists and rich land owners.
