Milwaukee, WI - Southside community members, tattoo businesses, friends and business owners will gather on January 26, at the Monkey Bar, 1619 S. 1st St. from 5:00 p.m. to midnight for a fundraiser to help Marcos Cortinas, the Red Arrow bar owner who was shot multiple times on early Saturday for trying to help patrons. Cortinas survived the shooting, but the bullet wounds caused severe internal damage and he went through multiple surgeries. To help with the medical expenses and piling bills, business leaders, friends and localize tattoo businesses are holding a fundraiser for Cortinas and his family.
Last Saturday, two men, including Cortinas, the bar owner of the Red Arrow at the 300 block of W. National Ave. were reported shot just after 1:00 a.m. on early Saturday by a teenager outside the bar. A man was shot several times when he went outside the tavern, after his girlfriend came into the bar asking for help.
Cortinas also went outside to help and was also apparently shot in the chest and pelvis as well by the teen. The teen was among a group of about five people trying to rob patrons.
The suspect then fled the scene, according to witnesses.
Both victims survived the shooting.
The Red Arrow bar has lost business, since the shooting occurred.
