Incumbent State Representative Zamarripa facing challenger for the Democratic nomination to run for the State Assembly District 8.

Madison, WI - On Thursday, Laura Manriquez, a Democratic candidate for the 8th Assembly District filed a petition with the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB) challenging more than 130 nomination signatures of 307 that incumbent State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milw.) had submitted to run for re-election. Manriquez submitted 312 nomination signatures and Vincent Synowicz, who is running as a Republican in a predominantly Democratic district submitted 234 nomination signatures, according to the GAB. A minimum of 200 valid signatures are needed to be place on the ballot for the State Assembly election.
The GAB will meet on Tuesday, June 10 to decide on the challenges and will determine who will be placed on the ballot for the August 12, 2014 Primary Election.
