Janesville, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, homophobic Jacob Dorsey, 19, a self-described Christian and GOP candidate for the Wisconsin State Assembly 44th District had dropped out of the race shortly after racist and homophobic remarks surfaced after posting the comments on both his Twitter and YouTube accounts. Last week, Dorsey apologized in a Janesville Gazette article for the December anti-gay remark, "fags need 2 leave my favorite state alone." But Dorsey had also made racist remarks towards Afro-Americans describing them as "Niggers" and anti-gay comments in several YouTube videos.
Dorsey has since disabled both accounts. Dorsey told the Gazette that "This race has been extremely hard on my family and myself."
Dorsey had launched his campaign in May and had taken off a semester from his studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho to run for public office.
Dorsey says, his racist and anti-gay comments were posted in YouTube in the last two years and described himself as a young child, but has matured. The latest anti-gay remark was posted on his Twitter account just five months before announcing his candidacy for the State Assembly, according to the LGBTQ Nation.
Dorsey's anti-gay remarks were first exposed by NOManics, the LGBTQ Nation reported.
Dorsey's opponent, Debra Kolste (D) is the incumbent in the 44th State Assembly District. With Dorsey's decision to drop out of the race, it will definitely assure that Kolste will be re-elected.
