15 Jalisco State Military Police Officers Killed During Ambush By Nueva Generación Cartel

At least 15 Jalisco State Military Police Officers were reported killed during an ambush by the Nueva Generación Cartel.

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico - On Monday, the Jalisco State Attorney General's Office (JFGE) reported that 15 Jalisco State Military Police Officers were killed and five were injured including a female officer during an ambush by the Nueva Generación Cartel (NGC). The officers that suffered injuries were taken to hospitals in Puerto Vallarta. The ambush happened around 2:50 p.m. in the municipality of San Sebastian del Oeste.
The JFGE says, the attack by the NGC was targeted at state police for the March 23 operation that led to the killing of its cartel leader, Heriberto Acevedo Cárdenas, aka, "El Gringo" in Zacoalco de Torres who was wanted for drug trafficking, in connection with 9 homicides, kidnappings, extortion and carjackings. Cárdenas operated in the municipalities of Tlajomulco De Zuniga, Cocula, Zacoalco de Torres, Tapalpa and Atemajac de Brizuela.
Around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, the Zacoalco de Torres Police Chief, Miguel Ángel Caicedo Vargas was reported killed by a group of armed men connected to the NGC.
On March 30, members of the NGC attacked a state police convoy in an attempt to kill Alejandro Solorio Aréchiga, the State of Jalisco Security Commissioner while traveling through the municipality of Rio Blanco in Zopopan. Five suspects were taken into custody in that attack.

Solorio Aréchiga released the following identities of the Jalisco State Military Police Officers who were killed on Monday.
