Milwaukee 14-year-old Boy Fatally Shot Shortly After U.S. Bank Fireworks Ended

Police are investigating a deadly shooting after the annual U.S. Bank's July 3 fireworks at the lakefront.

Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee Police reported that a known suspect is sought in connection with a homicide that happened just before 10:30 p.m. on July 3 in the 2200 block of N. Lake Drive and Wyoming Pl near St. Mary's Hospital. The victim, Tariq Akbar, 14, who was identified by his Facebook account had been shot and suffered serious injuries. Amid the chaos, responding Milwaukee Police officers performed CPR on Akbar and were able to restore his heartbeat. 
Akbar was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Preliminary information indicates Akbar was among a group of individuals who were feuding with another group on Facebook over a girl, according to police.
Police Chief Edward Flynn confirmed during a press conference that 8 to 9 shots were fired.

Another teen, T.M. in his FB account posted a photo of himself with blood on his white t-shirt and a cast on his right arm. T.M. wrote that Akbar was shot in front of him. Police then peppered sprayed T.M. eyes and threw him on the ground ending with a broken arm and six stitches in his head. Akbar was with a group of teens at the lakefront on Friday.
Chief Flynn has not reported nor has confirmed that T.M., another victim was injured by police officers at the shooting scene also.

Update: On Saturday, Milwaukee police arrested a juvenile in connection with Tariq Akbar's homicide.
