Racine, WI - On Monday, Wisconsin State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa, (D-Milw.); Milwaukee County Supervisor Peggy West, 12th District; Christine Neumann-Ortiz, the executive director for Voces de la Frontera and Republican Congressman Paul Ryan challengers, Randy Bryce (D) and Cathy Myers (D) were among several dozen pro-DACA supporters that were taken into custody by police during a civil disobedience sit-in act that blocked a Racine downtown intersection near Ryan's office. Hundreds of DACA supporters and students held a rally outide Congressman Ryan's office to demand passage of a clean DACA bill.
A federal judge ruled that DACA would continue in operation passed the March 5 deadline to expire, as a result of Trump's failure to provide good reason why he was ending the program. At least 20,000 DREAMers have lost their legal status and jobs.
DREAMers can continue to renew their legal status until the DACA case is decided.
Pro-DACA rallies and marches have taken place around the nation and students walked out of schools in support of a clean DACA bill.
The current anti-immigrant and anti-DACA agenda by the Republicans including Trump and the GOP has forced a majority of Democrats in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to support their special interests and voted along with the GOP by throwing DREAMers under the bus and ending several government shutdowns. U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (D) and a minority of other Democrats broke away from main stream Democrats voting with Republicans to override government shutdowns. Democrats briefly attempted to address a clean DACA bill, but Republicans prevailed to ignore the issue several times.
DACA recipients contribute billions of dollars to the economy, Social Security, Medicare, Gross National Product (GNP) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

• DACA recipients pay $2B in taxes per year, which includes state and local taxes, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.
• More than 75% of DACA recipients are employed, according to the National Immigration Law Center.
• 6M jobs remained unfilled today in the U.S., despite DACA recipients being employed.
• Deporting DACA recipients will cost $287B including an economic loss of $215B, also a fiscal loss of $60B (from lower net tax revenue) and $7.5B in deportation costs, according to Brandon & Albright from the CATO Institute.
• DACA recipients have higher-skills and higher-paying jobs than undocumented immigrants.
• Second generation immigrants have a net positive fiscal input of $173K to $259K per immigrant family, according to Econofact.
• 21% of DACA recipients work in education & health services, according to the American Medical Association and an estimated 5,400 additional DACA physicians will enter the U.S. work force in coming decades.
